With 2025 right around the corner, here’s a brief(ish) look at some of the away trips we have planned come the second half of the season.
FC United of Manchester – Sat 18 January
The site of many people’s favourite awayday in recent years, we finally get the chance to return to Broadhurst Park for a proper day out!
We’ll be leaving from The Wallaw at 9am, with the usual pick ups to follow – before heading down to Manchester. Due to the area not having a great amount of pubs, we’ll likely hunt one out on the outskirts of the town. We’ll likely get a warm welcome at the ground once again, so we may also look to go straight there.
Members will be £33 for this trip, and non members will be £38.
Basford United – Sat 1 February
A new ground for many of us, Basford wasn’t originally somewhere we had planned to sort a bus for this season however, with every game being pretty much vital during the second half of this season – it’s certainly one we’ll be looking to visit now.
With the journey set to take close to 3 and a half hours, we’ll be leaving at 9am. There is a Social Club up the road from the ground, so we may end up popping in there for a pint or five.
For this one members would likely be £33, with non members £38.
Gainsborough Trinity – Sat 15 February
A old favourite for many of us, Gainsborough away is one most of us have done many times over the years! With plenty of pubs around the ground and a decent social club at the Northolme, that sometimes even gives away free dart boards.
Members will be £33, and non members £38 once again. The leave time from The Wallaw will be 9am, which will give us plenty of time to enjoy a few in and around the ground.
Workington – Sat 8 March
Our second attempt to get to Workington this season, we’d be once again looking to leave Blyth at 9:30am and head straight to the Spoons in the town centre for some bait and a few pints, before heading down to the ground (via the working man’s clurb).
Again members will be £23, while non members will be £28. We appreciate some may want to try the train once again, but we’ll certainly be giving the bus a good go!
Hyde United – Sat 6 April
Another old favourite from the Blue Square North days, famed for its selection of top tier lager and running out of hotdogs at the worst possible moment, Hyde United away will be one to look forward to.
Again we’ll be leaving at 9am and heading straight over to the ground, which has plenty of pubs nearby that we can chance our arm in. Literally and figuratively!
Members will once again be £33, while non members will be £38.
Whitby Town – Mon 21 April
Whitby away on a (hopefully sunny) Bank Holiday weekend to end the season? What more could you want from life!
With it of course being a big awayday against a bit do rival where we may end up needing a win to help beat the drop, we’re hoping to end up taking 2 busses down for this game – possibly even 3!
The bus(es) would leave from The Wallaw at 9am, and aim to get into Whitby for 10:30am – dropping us off at the coach park to wander around the town and do some ‘sight seeing’.
At 2.15pm we’ll be back on the bus and head up to the ground. After the game we’d be looking to leave straight away, however due to the parking restrictions around the place, we may have a few headaches.
Members will be £20, while non members will be £25.
The traditional final awayday of the season fancy dress will also return this year, with the theme being Only Fools and Horses. A prize will also be dished out for the most creative fancy dress, so you’ve got plenty of time to get creative!
On top of those planned trips, we may also look to organise a bus for Bamber Bridge (Sat 1 March), Matlock Town (Sat 22 March) and Lancaster City (Saturday 19 April) if the interest is there for them.
